SCDSB offers summer school e-learning courses

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is offering summer school eLearning courses in July 2024 for current high school students or adult learners who are interested in creating flexibility in their schedule, earning a new credit, or upgrading a previous mark.

Reach-ahead credit options are also available for students entering Grade 9 in September 2024.

Students can advance online learning skills, earn missed credits, or fast-track preparation for graduation or post-secondary in just four weeks.

Summer school credit courses are available online this July. Online learning is fully supported by certified teachers who are available electronically daily. Courses are available from grades 9 to 12 in a variety of subject areas including English, math, and science. View all of the summer eLearning options.

Summer eLearning program details can be found on the Learning Centers website. Current SCDSB secondary students can register through their guidance counselor, student success teacher, Indigenous student success teacher, or graduation coach. Current SCDSB Grade 8 students can contact their school principal to register. All other students, including adults and non-SCDSB students, can register with a form which is available on the Learning Centers website.

Education Ministry calls for compassion and love – FBC News

The Education Ministry has sent out its well wishes to every child for Palm Sunday while reminding adults about their duty to create a nurturing environment that promotes the growth and happiness of every youngster.

Today marks Palm Sunday, a holiday celebrated by Christians worldwide celebrating Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Viliame Gavoka says the central message for Palm Sunday is a reminder of God’s love and sacrifice for Christians and children alike.

Gavoka says today marks the beginning of the Holy Week, leading up to Resurrection Sunday.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Education Selina Kuruleca also expressed her sentiments, saying Palm Sunday is a reminder of Jesus’ humility and his willingness to fulfill God’s plan, which shows that true greatness lies in serving others with love and respect.

Kuruleca believes it is important to teach children about Jesus’ teachings, and we should strive to follow his example of compassion, forgiveness, and love in our daily lives
